Synopsis

Dan Milton, a closeted gay college student, lives with his overbearing conservative religious parents, Harriet and James Milton. One day, his parents catch him masturbating to gay porn. They seek advice from their pastor, Reverend Harris, who suggests to send Dan to a pray-the-gay-away church retreat for spring break. To avoid this fate, Dan and his boyfriend Anthony come up with a plan to convince Dan’s parents to send him to a fake church retreat. They create a fake pamphlet and Anthony arrives at the Milton home impersonating a church director to try to persuade Dan’s parents. Harriet is unconvinced and invites Reverend Harris to discuss it. When Reverend Harris arrives, Anthony recognizes him but can’t recall from where. Reverend Harris and Dan’s parents ask Anthony questions about his retreat. Anthony answers them with the help of Dan prompting answers through charades behind their backs. James is ready to sign a cheque to Anthony and searches for his cheque book with Harriet. Reverend Harris accuses Dan and Anthony of fraud and threatens to ruin Dan’s life if he doesn’t go to his retreat. Anthony saves the day by realizing where he recognizes Reverend Harris: he’s a drag performer at a bar two cities over. With the tables turned, Dan promises not to out Reverend Harris if he endorses Anthony’s “retreat” to his parents and put on his father’s musical. Rev. Harris agrees and Dan ends up going to his spring break vacation with Anthony.
